Movies and videotapes often have a copy protection. This means that you only can view the movie on your TV, but cannot make any copies of the tape.
When you try to capture these tape, it can happen that there is no picture and sometimes you do get only audio. Videos ,like from your camcorder, will work perfectly fine because they won't have copy protection.
